In November 2001, the City of Houston voters overwhelmingly supported Proposition E, a bond which provided $40m for capital improvements for the Houston Public Library. This money, along with grant funds (HUD and CDBG) and proposed CDBG grants, is expected to fund the renovation, rehabilitation and construction of library facilities, based on the recommendations outlined in the Standards of Excellence commissioned in 2001.
