Downloadable Audiobooks Are Now Available!

Houston Public Library staff is excited to be offering you a great new service! The Library now has available for you an extensive and diverse collection of audiobooks. It has added this free service as another option to its electronic collection for remote Library users through netLibrary.

Library customers can now download audiobooks free with their Houston Public Library Power Card. All you need to do is log on to www.houstonlibrary.org; click on eServices, and under HPL Searches click on Electronic Book Collection. Once you open this page you will find the eBook Center @ HPL. On this page, you will discover a large and diverse collection of unabridged audiobooks and music to download, plus online eBooks.

Audiobooks are a diverse collection of books that can be downloaded to desktops and digital audio players that support the WMA (Windows Media Audio) format. MP3 format is not supported. The 700+ titles are currently available in the netLibrary database. The audiobooks collection includes: bestsellers from award-winning authors produced by Recorded Books, the Holy Bible in 30 parts, and more than 100 Pimsleur language learning programs.

Classical Music Library streams classical and classical pop music in two different speeds. It's perfect for customers needing this music if its not available in your branch library.

• They're easy to use! - You simply log on, browse the extensive list of audiobooks and download the one you want. It's easy as 1-2-3! Netlibrary audiobooks work on any desktop computer and portable devices that support Windows Media Play (v10), Music Match or Nullsoft Winamp 5 software.
• Fast download time! You can download the highest quality 10-hour audiobook in less than 13 minutes (via cable modem). Select a download option: CD quality is for use with high-speed Internet access. Radio quality provides fast download speed for users with dial-up connections.
• They're convenient! Houston Public Library's audiobook collection is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Audiobooks are always available when you want them!
• Automatic returns! Your downloadable audiobook has a check out period of 3 weeks and users can check out 6 titles at one time. The audio download will automatically shutdown when the time limit expires, so you don't have to worry about returning it!
