The Lunar New Year is the most significant festival for Asians around the world. It is a very jubilant occasion because it is the time to get together with family and friends and welcome the arrival of spring. The origin of the Lunar New Year festival can be traced back thousands of years, to a celebration lasting fifteen days. Traditionally, the period of celebration starts from Lunar New Year’s Eve until the lantern festival, which is also the first full moon of the year. New clothes are worn, and visits are made to friends, neighbors, and relatives to exchange good wishes of gong xi fa cai, or “congratulations and prosperity”.
