Each year, Houston Public Library nominates up to three works of literary fiction. The nominated titles must have been published in the previous year; the shortlist and winner are selected during the year after the titles are nominated. For example, the 2010 International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award is awarded to a title that was published in 2008 and nominated for the award in 2009.
