Andrea Collection (South Carolina)

Leonardo Andrea was a genealogist and researcher who specialized in South Carolina families. His research files are organized into two parts: Correspondence and Genealogical Folders. The Correspondence section consists of 21 reels of microfilmed letters received by Andrea from correspondents throughout the US. Letters are filed alphabetically by correspondents' surnames and may include pedigrees charts or genealogical sketches. The Genealogical Folders section consists of 51 reels of microfilm and are organized alphabetically by surname of interest. Folders vary in size and content, and may contain correspondence, transcripts of public and Bible records, clippings, pedigree charts, family group sheets, genealogical sketches, etc. Information on related families may also be included.

Barbour Collection 1640-1850 (Connecticut)

The Barbour Collection is a statewide compilation of birth, death, and marriage records for the state of Connecticut. There is a statewide index by name and also a compiled transcription by town. The collection covers marriages 1640-1850, births 1644-1850, and deaths 1650-1850 for most surviving Connecticut town records. The Barbour Collection was named for General Lucius Barbour, Connecticut's Examiner of Public Accounts from 1911-1934, who directed the project to transcribe the records. The records cover 137 towns and include 14,333 typed pages. The collection is on 97 rolls of microfilm and is filed in the Connecticut section of Clayton's Microprint department.

Barnes Collection 1812-1956 (Tennessee)

Thomas Jefferson Barnes (1883-1956) was a historian and genealogist specializing in the records and history of Warren County and Grundy County, Tennessee. His collection consists of genealogical data for approximately 500 families; records for about forty cemeteries and thirteen churches; and copies of public records including county records and an 1812 tax list for Warren County. The data is arranged by family name and subject within numbered folders. The collection is on 3 rolls of microfilm located in the Special Collections section in Clayton's Microprint department; see Introduction on Roll #1 for arrangement and index.

Robert Bruce Blake Research Collection (Texas)

Historian Robert Bruce Blake spent over thirty years translating and typing early Spanish records from San Antonio and Nacogdoches during the Texas Colonial period. The records cover the period 1744-1836. This set of books consists of seventy-five original volumes and eighteen supplemental volumes and is located in the Texas section of the open stacks on the first floor [976.4 B636 TEX]. Contents include wills, land grants, muster rolls, family histories, official documents, personal letters, and more from the Nacogdoches and Bexar Archives.

Calvert Papers, 1516-1804 (Maryland)

George Calvert, the first Lord Baltimore, was issued a charter by Charles I in 1632 for the colony of Maryland. His descendants served as Lords Proprietor of the colony, mostly on an absentee basis, until the American Revolution. The Calvert Papers include private family papers, deeds, and wills from England and Maryland, along with official documents concerning governmental matters forwarded to England by the colonial legislature. Of particular interest to genealogists are the colonial Land Office records, which include grants, warrants, patents, alienation fines, and quit rents from 1736 to 1761. The collection is on 27 reels of microfilm and is located in the Special Collections section of Clayton's Microprint department.

Cape Cod Families (Massachusetts)

"Genealogical Notes of Cape Cod Families" contains handwritten transcripts of records from town halls, cemeteries, churches, and other repositories in the Cape Cod area. The records, which were transcribed onto cards and filed alphabetically by surname, include births, marriages, and deaths of residents of Cape Cod from colonial times to the early 20th century. The collection is on 8 rolls of microfilm; an introduction and list of surnames appears at the beginning of the first roll. The collection is located in the Special Collections section of Clayton's Microprint department.

Carter Family Papers 1659-1797 (Virginia)

The Carter Family Papers consist of private letters, land records, and diaries of Landon Carter, a successful Virginia planter and politician, and his son Robert Wormeley Carter, both of Sabine Hall Plantation in Richmond County, Virginia. The original papers are part of the Sabine Hall Collection at the University of Virginia Library. The collection consists of four reels of microfilm. An index of correspondents and a list of topics and land documents appear on reel number one. Reel two includes correspondence and diaries on political topics. Reel three has diaries that cover pre- and revolutionary times of 1771-1777. Reel four has diaries that cover 1776-1778 and 1783-1784.

Cook Collection (Georgia and North Carolina)

The Cook Collection contains nine typescript family histories compiled by Georgia researcher P. H. Cook: The Hardin Creek Harpers of Early Wilkes County, Georgia; Descendants of Ezekiel Slaughter, John Johnson, Sr., and Elizabeth Ashfield Johnson; Some Saxon Ancestors of James Pitt Milner Harper; Descendants of John Thrasher of Clarke County, Georgia; Some Ancestors and Descendants of John Drury Cook of North Carolina and Georgia; Descendants of Nathan Sims; Descendants of John and Mary Gunn of Caswell County, North Carolina; and Some Descendants of Edward Wellborn of Georgia. Each volume is indexed. The collection is on 5 rolls of microfilm located in the Special Collections section of Clayton's Microprint department.

Corbin Manuscript Collection 1650-1850 (Massachusetts and neighboring states)

Walter E. Corbin and his wife, Lottie S. Corbin, of Northampton, Mass, became professional genealogists in 1932 specializing in central and western Massachusetts families. Over the next thirty years, they methodically transcribed public and private records found in libraries, homes, churches, town clerks' offices, and cemeteries. These transcribed records generally pertain to central and western Massachusetts for the period 1620-1850, with some later records included. 77 towns and villages are included, along with scattered locations in Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. Also included are genealogical research files on more than 500 families. Cuban Papers (Papeles Procedentes de Cuba or Legajos) (Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida)

The Cuban Papers or Legajos are a collection of documents generated by the Spanish government for the Mississippi Valley, Gulf Coast and East/West Florida. It is the only Spanish American colonial archive removed to Spain in its entirety. The collection contains government documents created during the Spanish rule along the Gulf Coast, from about the 1730's on up into the turn of the century. The majority of the documents are for the time period from 1761 to 1805. The documents show official government dealings with the day to day issues of life, some census, marriages, birth, death records, can be found. There are documents written in English and French but the majority of the documents are in Spanish. The collection is on 1000 rolls of microfilm and is filed in the Special Collections section of Clayton's Microprint department.

Draper Manuscripts 1740-1850 (Kentucky, Ohio, and Tennessee)

The Draper Manuscripts are a collection of early records compiled by Lyman Copeland Draper on the history of the trans-Alleghany West from the 1740s to the War of 1812. The collection is divided into fifty series, and each series has multiple volumes. The primary focus is on the settlements of the Ohio River valley and the early frontier states of Kentucky and Tennessee. There is no detailed index to the entire Draper collection, but some published sources are available to help researchers locate information in the collection. The following guide prepared by the curator of the Draper Manuscripts collection contains a description of all the series contained within the collection, including an index to names and places cited in the descriptions:

Draper Calendar Series. The following six volumes contain detailed descriptions of eleven series in the Draper collection, including an overview of each document by date and an index of names and places:

Draper Series. The following volumes present a detailed history of the first American frontier compiled from sources contained in the Draper Manuscripts Collection. Each volume contains transcripts of actual documents from several Draper series, as well as other research sources. Features include detailed maps and indexes.
