Her presentation will be a review and overall on Queer Theory, one of the new fields of study in the academy and a direct product of the GLBT movement. She teaches American literature and cultures with a specialization in Mexican-American literature and a focus on Chicana queer writers. Maria Gonzalez is the author of "Contemporary Mexican-American Women Novelists: Toward a Feminist Identity" (1996) now in its third printing and is currently doing work on an institutional history of Chicana/o literature.
